My Music Moguls

This is an invitation for you!

Hello,
My name is Lydia Brownfield. I am a singer/songwriter with a storied past dating back to about 1990. I have shared stages with chart topping bands such as the Indigo Girls, Loudon Wainwright, Shawn Mullins, Peter Case, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Camper Van Beethoven and more. I also had my own highly acclaimed band, Long Flat Red throughout the ‘90’s. Based on the success of my recent release, "A Horse Named Yankee", I have been back in the studio recording three brand new albums, including a children’s CD. My newest album entitled "Stranger" is being produced by JUNO Award Nominee (Best Rock Album 2008) Stacy O’Dell at Riverfront Studios in New York City. I am hoping for a 2009 release date for all three of these upcoming albums.

BE MY MUSIC MOGUL was created as a way to get people involved in a grass roots recording agreement free and clear of the ties that bind in the traditional music industry. Read on and you will find all the details of how to participate.

HERE'S THE DEAL:
I have many years of work experience in print advertising, website development/design, and multimedia. I have over seven years of formal education in Art, Design, Multi-Media and Photography. Up until February of this year (‘09) I was the graphic / web designer / photographer / project manager for Kenda USA, a tire manufacturing company. I stopped working for Kenda to pursue my music career with more vigor. With Be My Music Mogul you are basically hiring me for a freelance design job… But also you are supporting the arts, donating to cancer research and helping a musician get her voice heard. Not a bad deal…right?

ABOUT THE RELEASES

A HORSE NAMED YANKEE
After figuring out how to magically turn my cassette tape recordings into digital MP3’s I released a compilation of fifteen songs in October 2008 called “A Horse Named Yankee”. The songs on AHNY were songs recorded from 1992 through 2003 in professional studios, home recordings from my living room and live performances in clubs in and around Atlanta. At any given time you can find 6 of them (and others) on MySpace. www.myspace.com/lydiabrownfield

WANTING’S FOR SINNERS
This is a 4 Song “socially conscious” EP (Extended Play) that focuses on important social/economic/environmental topics. A good friend of mine was diagnosed last year with Inflammatory Breast Cancer and she is still fighting for her life. She was the catapult for this recording. My father, artist/painter/sculptor Sal Brownfield is contributing his artwork from his highly regarded series, “A Celebration of Healing”, for the cover design. There will be six different covers and will be a limited edition run of only 300 copies. A percentage of the sales will go to Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research (www.ibcresearch.org). All four songs are finished and I have started the recording here in C-Bus.

STRANGER
This is a recording of some of my best pop/rock tunes. This is very exciting for me because the songs on this CD are the cream-of-my-crop from years gone by, but I have never had a chance to give them the production they deserve. I’ve recorded the basics (guitar/vocals/drums/bass) with Stacy O’Dell of Riverfront Studios in Brooklyn, N.Y. Stacy is nominated for a JUNO award – Canada – for BEST ROCK ALBUM for producing The Trews latest release. Recording with Stacy was an amazing (and humbling) experience! He’s one of the BEST producers in the industry and, yes, he’s a little pricey, but well worth it when it’s all said and done. Having Stacy as the PRODUCER of my CD will virtually GUARENTEE a listen from the big dogs! This will be a six song EP. It's being mixed and mastered now and should be ready for release soon!

PLAY NICE WITH YOU
I have long had an idea of recording a “rock opera”. Some of you laugh… but The Who did it with Tommy, The Coolies did it with Doug, not to mention Jesus Christ Super Star – anyway, I’ve tried my hand with it in the form of a kid’s story. It’s the story of a boy who moves to a new place (a new planet), starts at a new school, makes new friends, and experiences all kinds of new things. This will have ten songs and come with a hand-illustrated book – illustrated by me! I have it half written (5 songs complete) with songs such as “Feels Like This”, “Thinking About You”, “I’ll Play Nice With You”. I already have a test market gig at the Grandview Library to showcase the new kids songs on September 17th at 7pm!
